Directional Driller

Knowledge and ability to work while making safety the number one priority is a must

1. Will execute work assigned
2. Coach and supervise junior technicians and labourers
3. Perform work including box locating and directional drilling, installation of conduits for various cables, installation of pedestals and concrete bases, flushmount vaults and enclosures
4. Perform all other duties as required by departmental manager

Must:

• Operate heavy equipment (Mini Backhoe, Trencher, Winch, Compressors, Directional Drills etc.) and power tools (Power Drills, Concrete Saws)
• Use technical and diagnostic tools (cable locator, signal meter, TDR)
• Maintain a fit condition to bend, kneel and climb during the installation process
• Safely lift loads of 65 lbs
• Have the flexibility to work in restricted and tight spaces
• Manage efficiently and ensure that deadlines are met to satisfy customer needs
• Apply due diligence ensuring accuracy in preparing and promptly completing all necessary documentation for projects and timesheets
• Be well organized and be able to work well individually and as part of a team

Must:

• Possess a valid Ontario (G and A-Z) driver’s license and satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company
• Understand and practice defensive driving methods
• Be accountable to work safely abiding by the rules of the Company, IHSA and LaborCanada standards
• Wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment provided as job function dictates
• Attend and participate in all required safety training programs
• Identify all unsafe working conditions and not proceed with work if it endangers the technician, other workers, customers and/or the general public
• Participate in all Health and Safety efforts
• Set up and work safely on high traffic roads according to Book 7 standards
• Work in all weather conditions, day, night, or weekends with possible overnight stays
