Are you a Senior Structural Technologist who would enjoy taking the lead on quality control of drafting standards for a small group of professional structural drafting technologists? We are seeking the right professional who enjoys relationship building across disciplines and is meticulous, keenly knowledgeable of relevant structural codes, standards, and specifications associated with Alberta Transportation projects.

ISL’s Structural Bridges Team is experienced in taking major bridge projects from conception to construction.   • A relevant example of where you have had to apply knowledge of structural design standards

Your resume should show us:

  • Relevant designation with ASET or equivalent
  • Applicable education in drafting and design technology or relatable
  • Direct experience providing quality assurance oversight on design standards
  • Experience providing feedback to technologists ensuring quality assurance and compliance
  • Experience in structural engineering projects within transportation infrastructure: bridges, retaining walls, project experience preferred
  • A thorough understanding of the production drawings related to reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and structural steel
  • Experience with Revit and 3D Software
  • Proficiency with Rhino, Dynamo, Inventor, Infraworks, BIM, and Python
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, and specifications associated with Alberta Transportation projects

A Little More About the Role

Responsibilities:

This senior technologist role will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring workflow to ensure quality assurance and design standards are met. A key liaison between technologists and engineers, this position will:

  • Work alongside a team of Engineers and technologists
  • Prepare designs and estimates from general instructions and/or preliminary sketches, diagrams, or schematics
  • Recommend modifications and changes for design improvement and simplification, and prepare working drawings from conceptual layouts to detailed finished products
  • Lead overall project completion which will include preparing and assembling project deliverables, developing design layouts, and managing multiple project inputs
  • Leverage your effective communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills to collaborate and coordinate with other ISL disciplines to meet multi-discipline and client needs
  • Apply a practical approach to work – balance requirements and the numbers to ensure that projects meet the needs of our clients
  • Mentor and cross-train staff as well as make recommendations for efficiencies
