Victoria Park Medispa on Grant Avenue, formerly The Derm Centre, is led by Dr. Victoria Taraska. We're looking for a General Manager to join our team Responsibilities include leading the medispa team to achieve its objectives, including its operating budget for profitability and growth, as well as key performance indicators for operational excellence. You will achieve this primarily by building and motivating a high-performing team, promoting performance-enhancing initiatives and ensuring day-to-day operational efficiency.
The following elements describe in more detail the main responsibilities of the General Manager:
Budget management and key performance indicators:
- Review the budget for the month, quarter and year, and plan with key staff and physicians how to achieve objectives.
- Review expenses to ensure that they are on or under budget.
- Recommend investments that will enable growth against budget, including marketing initiatives, additional training, hiring new staff in line with revenue growth, new equipment, etc.
- Review performance benchmarks against similar sites and key performance indicators for operational excellence and communicate with Regional Manager on progress.
Build and motivate a high-performance team:
- Lead team leaders and/or key employees to achieve objectives.
- Ensure that employees who provide superior customer service, show initiative and achieve their goals receive positive feedback and recognition.
- Ensure that all conflicts between team members are resolved at site level, and involve human resources if necessary.
- Ensure ongoing communication with regular team meetings and keep doctors informed, as necessary, of performance, promotions, issues and any important upcoming changes.
- Ensure that employees who do not meet expectations receive feedback and support to improve and, if necessary, work with Human Resources to develop performance improvement plans and a termination process.
Encourage initiatives that improve performance:
- Engage employees and physicians to propose ideas for improving customer service, revenue growth, operational efficiency and adherence to brand standards.
- Brainstorm with Regional Director and other GMs and Marketing on ideas including special regional events, customer engagement, influencer engagement and maintaining brand presence on social media.
Ensure day-to-day operational efficiency:
- Travel to ensure standards of customer service, cleanliness, health and safety, and operational efficiency are met.
- Ensure that various operational standards are met by managers - standard operations checklists, accounting reports, adverse event reports, etc.
Requirements and Qualifications:
The following qualifications are required:
- Must have three to five years of work experience in a similar or related industry.
- Must have previous experience successfully managing a team of employees.
- Must have strong Excel and analytical skills.
- Must be proficient with financial statements.
- Must possess exceptional communication skills.
- Must be results-oriented, open to feedback and a role model.
- Must have sales and customer service experience.
- Must have strong English communication skills, both written and oral.
The following qualifications are considered an asset:
- Experience in the field of aesthetics and/or medical aesthetics
- Experience in marketing and business development
- Experience in purchasing and inventory management
