Role Overview:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in electrical engineering design within project teams. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Designing electrical systems such as power distribution, generators, lighting, and control systems, ensuring compliance with codes and client specifications.
  2. Performing electrical calculations, including load flow, short circuit analysis, and protective device coordination.
  3. Developing and reviewing detailed engineering drawings, schematics, single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
  4. Preparing Bills of Material.
  5. Conducting site inspections and witnessing the commissioning of electrical and control system installations.
  6. Writing technical reports and interacting professionally with clients.
  7. Identifying and implementing process improvements.
  8. Managing small projects within budget, scope, and schedule.

Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  2. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA.
  3. Minimum of 5 years of professional electrical engineering experience.
  4. Proficiency with AutoCAD (Microstation experience is an asset).
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  6. Strong problem-solving skills with minimal supervision.
  7. Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  8. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  9. Knowledge of commercial, industrial, and utility environments.
  10. In-depth knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution and the Canadian Electrical Code.
  11. Experience with industrial and utility power systems, underground distribution, and hands-on field experience with power delivery equipment is an asset.

Qualifications:
  1. Engineering Design & Drafting Technology graduate or equivalent education/experience.
  2. Experience in piping process equipment in a fabrication facility is an asset.
  3. Knowledge of ASME/ANSI B31.3, CADWorx, and AutoCAD.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of P&IDs and piping layouts.
