Northern Sun Mining is areputable mining company located 25 km southeast of Timmins, Ontario, where itowns and operates the Redstone concentrator. For almost a decade, Northern SunMining has been providing custom milling services to various mining communities,demonstrating exceptional recoveries of gold and platinum group metals.

Northern Sun Mining currently has an exciting opportunity fora Site Coordinator. Reportingto the Health and Safety Representative, the Site Coordinator will aid insafeguarding the safety, security, and integrity of our mining activities. Thisrole is pivotal in upholding a secure setting and proficiently addressing securityconcerns.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Conduct multiple site status checks, suchas monitoring pump houses, conducting tailings inspections, and recordingpropane tank levels.
  • Serve as the designated contact for siteentrants, maintaining a log of arrivals and departures.
  • Efficiently manage interactions withindividuals entering and exiting the site.
  • Record incoming ore shipments, accuratelydocument shipment data as instructed, and assist in overseeing ore truckactivities, such as scale location and dump area selection for sampling.
  • Document and report security incidents,accidents, and any unusual occurrences.
  • Coordinate spill response activities asdirected by the Environmental department.
  • Maintain clear and effectivecommunication with fellow security personnel, supervisors, and otherrelevant personnel.
  • Ensure visitors follow safety protocolsand wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Proficiently operate a two-way radiowhen required.
  • Work in compliance with prescribed safety policiesand procedures.
  • Be proactive with company safety initiative.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the Health andSafety Representative and/or Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of relevant security training programsor courses is highly regarded.
  • Valid security guard license is an asset.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job,including walking, standing, and patrolling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team andcollaborate with other departments.
  • Basic computer skills for generating reports andusing relevant software.
  • High level of integrity and commitment tomaintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
