We are currently looking for a Financial Operations Specialist with a background and knack for all things finance and accounting. You will be the face of our financial operations within TEEMA Managed Services, reporting directly to our Chief Operating Officer, to support a holistic range of operational tasks as we are continuing our growth as a start-up

What you will be doing:

Managing the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting tasks, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate financial statements

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records, including payroll information, benefits enrollment, and vacation accruals

Ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations related to accounting and payroll, including tax filings and reporting requirements

Working with our payroll provider to ensure payroll is accurate and on-time.

Managing obligations to suppliers, customers and third-party vendors

Continuously identifying opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to streamline operations

Participating in special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed

Processing bank deposits

Reconciling financial statements

Preparing, sending and storing invoices

Contacting clients and sending reminders to ensure timely payments

Submitting income tax and GST forms

Identifying and addressing discrepancies

Reporting on the status of accounts payable and receivable

Updating internal accounting databases and spreadsheets

What you must have:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

2+ years’ experience in accounting

Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)

Familiarity with and payroll administration and regulations

Experience with payroll software and accounting software

Advanced knowledge of Excel (using financial formulas and creating spreadsheets)

Impeccable data entry skills with an ability to identify numerical errors

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independentlyAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Experience with HR administration is an asset

Strong ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical groups, both internally and externally

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Good time management, with ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines

Experience working in an agile and /or Scrum environment using tools such as Jira or VSTS

Nice to have:

CPA or CPA in progress
