Shift Power Engineer 4th Class

Job Summary:
The Shift Power Engineer is responsible for filling out all daily logbooks and mechanical handover books, as per ABSA requirements. The role includes conducting chemical testing every three hours, overseeing the blowdowns of boilers and autoclaves, and conducting general maintenance of the facilities' 'A-Pressure' registered equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:- Start-up and shut down of Nisku Manufacturing Power Plant including Boilers, Compressors, Portable Boilers, and generators
- Complete, on a 3-hour cycle, the daily checklist of three Boilers, conduct chemical testing one to two times per 12-hour shift, complete manual and automatic blowdowns of all boilers.
- Maintain and monitor Chemical levels, salt levels, and filter levels, and report to supervisor prior to low-level limits of all boiler room consumables
- 6S all boiler rooms (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety)
- Complete regular inspections of autoclaves, steam traps, Y-strainers, steam valves, actuators, and positioners.
- Complete assigned AIMS Planned Work Orders and Unplanned Work Orders.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Must have a current Power Engineer 4th Class ticket. Able to operate a Power Plant rated boiler based upon your Power Engineering Class level. Must possess a strong mechanical and maintenance background to be considered an asset. Comprehensive knowledge of Boilers, Autoclaves, Receivers, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, mechanical, chemical, boiler maintenance, and safety pressure vessel standards.
Technical Competencies:- AIMS
- Fork-lift training considered an asset
- Kronos Overall Computer Skills
This position is classified as safety-sensitive, and employment would be conditional on satisfactory completion of pre-employment testing.
