Education Support Services - Positive Behaviour Supports (ESS-PBS)

10-month position

Job Description:

The ESS - PBS is a member of the District Education Support Services Team and reports to the Director of Education Support Services. They contribute to the development of strategies and interventions to support positive behaviour, ensuring all children and youth are safe, included, and learning. They work closely with student support teams (schools, families, district staff, etc.) within a multi-tiered framework to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour expectations. They advocate for the needs of children, especially those with complex needs. They support Behaviour Intervention Mentors by providing expertise in the field of behaviour programming and excellence in their own practice.

Duties include:

  • Promote evidence-informed behaviour practices such as Applied Behaviour Analysis and remain current with respect to research in behaviour
  • Promote the structure of RTI as defined within the framework of Positive Behaviour Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
  • Develop solutions to increasingly complex educational and professional issues
  • Support schools in the development of Personalized Behaviour Support Plans (PLP-IBSP)
  • Maintain documentation of school consults, student observation and recommendations
  • Maintain and support data analyze, and report data related to student behaviour success as required by the School District and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals in the area of Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Complex Behaviour, and PBIS
  • Adhere to accountability structures as defined by the school district
  • Provide professional learning to school teams
  • Provide guidance and mentoring for Behaviour Intervention Mentors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master of Education in Exceptional Learners, BCBA or equivalent training or expertise
