Blue Sky Resources requires a Health & Safety Manager, whose main role is to support the growth of our health and safety program by developing processes and programs to ensure Blue Sky remains an injury free workplace. Based out of our Head Office in Calgary, this position will report to our Operations Manager and will require extensive travel (up to 50%) to our locations throughout Alberta and NE BC. This position will also be responsible for the safety programs of our smaller affiliate organizations.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

· Provide solutions to advance Blue Sky’s safety culture

· Develop Health & Safety initiatives and continuously improve current policies and procedures

· Coordinate Health & Safety activities of Employees and/or Contractors

· Research, plan, organize and conduct training programs and seminars with regard to orientations, incident investigation, ERP Training, etc.

· Chair Health & Safety meetings in field and office

· Assist with injury & WCB case management

· Wildfire management

· Escalate unresolved safety issues, gaps, inconsistencies, etc. to the leadership team

· Developing and implementing awareness training for Health & Safety standards, policies and guidelines

· Ensure all incidents are recorded and incident reporting is completed in a timely manner

· Review and approval of incident investigations. Ensuring Root Cause Analysis has been completed and corrective action implementation.

· Complete statistical analysis, trending and support preparation of the corporate Health & Safety statistics

· Assist with Hazard Assessment and Risk Assessments

· Ensure Blackline, STARS working alone, emergency number and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) systems are current and staff are trained in how to use them

· Distribute QA/QC Safety Bulletins/Alerts and Lessons Learned to all staff

· Monitor and support development and maintenance of training matrix

· Coordinate Certificate of Recognition (COR) program with certifying partner

· Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation

· Provide support & direction to operations on OH&S issues and risk management/mitigation issues

· Provide safety mentorship to staff

· Maintaining corporate and site specific emergency response program

· Ability to be a resource for all emergency response roles and teams

· 24/7 response to emergencies

· Coordinating, developing, implementing, and/or facilitating the following training processes:

- ICS level 100 and 200

- Functional training for responders

o Field/Corporate-Level Full Deployment Exercises (as required by regulations)

· Assist with corporate and business continuity plans

· Coordinating general communications and raising awareness levels regarding the progress and objectives of emergency preparedness

· Ensure that ERP’s are kept current and up-to-date and periodic audits of information contained within the ERP’s

· Facilitating look-back sessions for all training and ERP activations

· Reviewing/auditing 3rd-party service providers

· Ensuring that all ERP activations are recorded in the incident tracking software

Experience and Requirements:

· Occupational Health & Safety certificate/diploma, or equivalent

· NCSO designation

· 10+ years of experience in health and safety with emergency response planning

· Previous oil and gas field experience would be considered an asset

· Ability to implement ICS at Corporate and field level

· Able to work in a stressful team environment during an emergency situation

· Understanding of emergency response-related legislation and industry activities

· Extensive knowledge of industry best in class practices as well as related government regulations and expectations

· Risk control and management experience

· Understanding of loss control, accidents investigation and root cause analysis

· Excellent planning, organizational, verbal and written communication skills

· Previous experience working within a HSE management program such as InUnison

Please note this position will require frequent travel to remote locations in Alberta and BC.
