What you’ll be doing:
Archaeological fieldwork under the supervision and mentorship of an experienced lead/permit holder.
- Shovel testing of high potential localities, pedestrian survey, excavation of archaeological sites, comprehensive note-taking, artifact recovery, and photography.
- Assist in relocating forestry harvest block boundaries and road routes.
Fieldwork Preparation:
- Constructing screens, fixing damaged equipment, prepping gear for the upcoming field shifts, organizing, and maintaining safety equipment.
Fieldwork Access:
- Drive a 1-ton truck in variable weather and road conditions.
- Use an ATV in variable weather and ground conditions to access field sites.
- Navigate through remote and challenging terrain using GPS and maps.
What are we looking for in you?
- Have a valid Class 5 driver's license with an up-to-date and clean driver’s abstract.
- The ability to conduct physical labor outside for long hours, in often challenging environments and weather conditions.
- To be able to work shifts away from home for up to 10 days, often in remote locations.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A professional, responsible, and respectful manner.
- A high regard for personal and group safety.
- A high level of self-motivation.
