Overview

BriteCore is seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering team to help enhance our Insurance SaaS Platform.

The successful candidate will have a strong product engineering background and proficiency in Python and Javascript. You enjoy fast-paced environments where you can solve difficult problems using current technologies and tools. You collaborate well with other team members when brainstorming, designing, and implementing new solutions. You are a hands-on technical resource who will be responsible for issues related to product features, performance, speed, scale, security, and accessibility.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to an Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Join a passionate, agile development team to design and build applications that scale and support our platform.
  • Work in Python, Django, JavaScript, JQuery, ViewJS
  • Write and maintain unit tests for every feature
  • Participate in an Agile environment using Scrum software development practices, automated unit testing, continuous integration, code reviews, version control systems, automated build processes
  • Raise issues proactively that may impact delivery commitments
  • Fix production issues and maintain the code as needed
  • Address system issues as they relate to performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Provide direction and supervision across multiple teams to influence architectural decisions and technology selection
  • Work cooperatively with product management to create features that satisfy user needs with simplicity, consistency, and robustness
  • Maintain and evolve the software architecture for current and future needs
  • Stay current with the latest development best practices and share your findings with the team

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a similar field of study
  • 5+ years of overall software product development and or Cloud/SaaS/Enterprise software engineering experience
  • 2+ years of experience building large-scale enterprise applications

Required Skills

  • Experience developing with Python
  • Experience with Django or another popular Python framework
  • Experience developing in frontend frameworks (React, VueJS)
  • Knowledge of SQL or similar query language
  • Experience with API development
  • Agile and Test-driven development methodologies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Natural aptitude for both teaching and learning from others in a collaborative team environment
  • Recognizes and acts on inconsistencies in data or results and escalates unusual problems
  • Identifies issues beyond the stated situation

Desired Skills

  • Experience working with Docker
  • Experience working with AWS: EC2, API Gateway, Lambda Functions, etc
  • Experience in the Insurance industry
  • Good knowledge of Database design and SQL performance
  • Knowledge of different testing techniques and approaches.

*This is a long-term Independent Contractor position.
