Build a career while making a differenceYou belong here if you value practicing within an interdisciplinary team environment, based on a bio-psycho-social approach to intervention, which may include psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and in some cases, physical rehabilitation specialists.You belong here if you value belonging to a growing mental health team that offers peer consultation, supervision, and professional growth.You belong here if you value working with a diverse adult population with a variety of mental health and psycho-social needs, which respond well to cognitive-behavioral principles and evidence-based psychotherapy.Finally, you belong here if you want to be part of something bigger than your own practice Responsibilities:Provide counselling services to clients referred privately, by employers, by various insurance companies, and other third-party organizations to address psychosocial problems related to injury, trauma, and mental illness.Adopt a goal-focused, therapeutic approach for alleviating distress and improving social and occupational functioning.Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to discuss clients’ treatment plan and goals, the progress made to date, and any barriers to treatment.Delivery quality reporting and effective communication with all stakeholders.Licensing:Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling TherapistsMinimum Master’s Degree in a counselling-related field such as Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work ExperienceExperience in case conceptualization and treatment of a range of mental health symptoms with a variety of adult clients.Have clinical knowledge in the areas of grief/loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment issues. Knowledge of psychological management of chronic pain and concussive syndrome an asset.Training and experience with cognitive behavioural therapy approaches (e.g., CBT, ACT, CPT).Experience working as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team.Experience preparing assessment, progress and discharge reports.Excellent interpersonal skills, solid judgement, and integrity.
