Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, Electrical, this role is responsible for supervising a team of engineers undertaking electrical engineering work packages required to efficiently support the delivery of bids, installations, and systems in order to meet requirements, schedule, and cost. Responsibilities Promote the implementation of Advanced Electrical Engineering across the Marshall Land Systems Engineering function. Lead, mentor or support a small design team of Electrical Engineers or junior team members. Responsible for the development and performance management of direct reports. Work closely with the electrical production team to ensure a defined electrical build standard for North America. Support the CE marking of in-house manufactured electrical equipment. Develop an in-depth knowledge of the standards and specifications appropriate to the discipline of Electrical Engineering. Apply pragmatic and best practice Electrical Engineering techniques to support our projects and business development activities. Promote and adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental best practice. Work to standards, processes & procedures, ensuring rigor, resilience, and continuous improvement in solutions, meeting all regulatory requirements and conforming to specifications, quality and certification requirements. Support the technical compliance, verification, and validation activities of all contractual, statutory and legal requirements. Ensure that the technical solution is fit for purpose and meets the customer requirements while working within the electrical engineering budget and adhering to delivery schedule for each project. Provide innovative solutions, based on standards and product baselines wherever possible. Support the wider team with generating Bills of Materials and specific electrical work breakdown packages. Work effectively with all disciplines to ensure effective integration of electrical systems and components within mechanical restraints to ensure a defined electrical build standard. Work collaboratively within the team and other areas of the business. Manage budget and schedule adherence for delivery of own work packages. Control product, build standard, drawing and document configuration control. Lead and support as needed creation of redlines or other design change management process where required. Lead and support as needed various design review meetings (SRR, ERR, PDR, CDR, change boards etc.) Conduct peer and team checks of electrical drawings and electrical checks of applicable mechanical drawings. Carry out mark-up changes on drawings as required and raise queries in PLM to ensure configuration control and defined build standard. Provide electrical engineering support for trials & testing including ATS functional testing. Produce or review and approve technical specifications for sub-contract suppliers. Produce or review and approve test schedules / reports and lead testing activities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications A degree in an appropriate Electrical Engineering discipline from an accredited university or equivalent knowledge. Domain experience in electrical engineering with modular shelter based products or related systems is an asset. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical design with 3 years of management in Electrical Engineering. Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques for wire harnesses, including fabrication, and ability to mentor a small electrical design team. Experienced in team leadership delivering and planning large and complex tasks to schedule and budget. Demonstrated effectiveness in using professional or technical expertise to make decisions and provide guidance to colleagues. Expertise in product safety, standards, and rugged environments for North America. EMI/EMC safety and testing requirements for modular shelters is an asset. Expert in electrical design and review of drawings including block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams and harnesses. Excellent understanding of Canadian Electrical Code, Part I Safety Standard for Electrical Installations CSA 22.1 (current edition). Experience with software design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, Mentor Graphics. Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite. Excellent planning and organization skills. Excellent communication & interpersonal skills; fluent written and oral English mandatory, competence in French beneficial. Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
