About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President Operations, the Director of Primary Health Care is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to various professional health care disciplines for specified community-based health teams, programs, and services. The Director is tasked with offering operational leadership for an integrated approach to health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management to enable the integration of health care services as NSH transitions to a population health framework. It is crucial to work with and influence services and program changes in areas encompassed by PHC, such as mental health, addictions, academic family medicine, community health, public health, ambulatory care, and continuing care that is primary care-focused, emergency, etc.

About You

We are interested in hearing from you if you possess the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a health discipline/health science field
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Services Administration, or equivalent Masters Management Program
  • Minimum of 7 years in a health care/primary care/community setting
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive leadership experience in management and administration in a health care/community setting, with evidence of financial and human resource management
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating Primary health care and community-based initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability in business plan management, resource allocation, and budget preparation
  • Specific experience with strategic and operational planning and related management functions
  • Knowledge of disease prevention, health promotion, chronic disease management, and population health
  • High level of judgment, group management skills, group facilitation skills, and an ability to effectively deal with a wide range of individuals, organizations, and diverse cultures
  • Ability to assess and anticipate future needs, potential problems, directions, and development for all aspects of strategic, financial, operational, and human resource management
  • Demonstrated ability to work with family physicians and teams in building capacity
  • Ability to develop and sustain coalitions, alliances, and partnerships with members of the healthcare sectors and external agencies
  • Innovative systems thinking with a solid understanding of clinical practice. Expected to develop extensive district-wide and external contacts related to Primary Care; demonstrate the ability to establish collaborative funding partnerships to enable primary care initiatives to proceed
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred

Compensation and Incentives

$53.91 - $71.63 Hourly
