Chestermere, Canada ABP Marine Environmental Research Ltd Full time

Marine aggregates play a vital role in the supply chain for the construction industry and for beach nourishment as part of coastal defence projects.

Reliance on marine sources of sand and gravel will increase as viable land-won sources are depleted. There is also growing interest in seabed mining for rare metals as extraction technology improves.

ABPmer provides a comprehensive service to the marine minerals sector, both in the strategic planning of resource exploitation and at project level.

We have many years’ experience leading strategic planning exercises for marine minerals, as well as other sectors. This ranges from regional environmental assessments to mapping of constraints and opportunities, as part of a wider options appraisal.

Marine licence application support

Applying for marine licences means completing various environmental assessments. ABPmer has extensive experience preparing environmental impact assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments and Water Framework Directive Assessments to help aggregate companies secure new or extended mining and dredging licenses.

We regularly undertake Coastal Impact Studies, including the use of hydrodynamic and sediment transport modelling.

We also provide operational advice and support, including the discharge of licence conditions and managing and undertaking post-consent monitoring.
