Underwriting Analyst Tester

We are seeking a positive and experienced Underwriting Analyst and tester to join our Personal Insurance Underwriting team. You will report to the Senior Manager, Strategic Governance of Personal Insurance, Aviva Canada.

The underwriting analyst will work closely with business partners to complete User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on product, pricing, and underwriting initiatives, prior to our system deployment.

Once initiatives are deployed into the system, the underwriting analyst will complete business Post-Production Validation to ensure changes implemented are as planned, with no errors.

What you'll do:

  1. Review requirements to validate for accuracy, and provide feedback and recommendations for product, pricing, and underwriting initiatives.
  2. Provide technical underwriting direction to IT and Enablement teams for sophisticated requirements to support implementation.
  3. Develop test cases reflecting specific business initiatives. Transactions may include Quote, New Business, Policy Change, Renewal, Rewrite, Cancellation.
  4. Complete UAT (including regression testing) in lower QA environments to ensure system behavior matches business requirements.
  5. Provide corporate underwriting sign-off once test cases pass UAT. Collaborate with IT to fix bugs on test cases that fail UAT; call out as required.
  6. Complete business post-production validation to ensure system behavior matches business requirements.
  7. Proactively conduct system spot checks to ensure product, pricing, and underwriting logic is stable and not compromised.
  8. Collaborate with IT QA team to build holistic test strategy.
  9. Create test profiles to be used in UAT and post-production validation before and after system implementation.
  10. Develop test strategies and test plans.
  11. Connect with IT and Enablement teams to clarify business requirements and expected system behaviors.
  12. Identify impacts on business processes based on IT solutions and being able to detect when changes to AURs will affect other areas of the system.

What you'll bring:

  1. Post-secondary school degree/diploma.
  2. CIP/FCIP insurance designation preferred.
  3. Minimum 5 years insurance experience.
  4. Strong reasoning, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  5. Ability to work in an unstructured environment with minimal direction.
  6. Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize.
  7. Proven knowledge of Company underwriting policies an asset.
  8. Prior experience in business analyst capacity an asset.
