Overview:

Seeking a Financial Controller with a passion for accuracy and efficiency to oversee our financial operations. This role is integral to managing the finances of residential construction projects with a focus on sustainability and community impact. Ideal candidates will have a solid finance background and the skills to support our growth and ensure compliance.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • At least 5 years' experience in financial management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; QuickBooks knowledge advantageous.
  • Expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborative work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience working on sustainable residential construction projects.
  • Familiarity with financial operations of projects involving first nations communities.
  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications in financial management or accounting.
  • Experience with Google Drive or other document management systems.
  • Prior responsibility for financial forecasting and managing global or divisional budgets.
  • Demonstrated leadership with skills to mentor team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations.
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable.
  • Lead the creation and oversight of budgets, cash flow projections, and financial forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance and risk management in contract and insurance agreements.
  • Maintain organized financial records, leveraging systems like Google Drive.
  • Optimize inventory management for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Direct all aspects of financial operations and administration.
  • Develop budgetary controls to monitor expenditures.
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies for year-end and corporate filings.
