Our client is a Calgary based manufacturing company and recognized as a leading supplier of various engineered equipment. Reporting to the President & General Manager and working directly with the executive management team, the Vice President of Engineering will oversee engineering, drafting and quality control staff and activities within their Calgary head office.

Responsibilities

  • Set goals and objectives for Engineering, Drafting and Quality Control departments.
  • Plan and direct all aspects of the engineering activities within the organization.
  • Review and implement process improvements. Ensure areas of responsibility meet goals and objectives by providing systems, resources, training and support.
  • Ultimately responsible for directing and overseeing engineering projects, manufacturing details and design which are complex and require expert application of engineering knowledge.
  • Oversee the work schedules of departments to meet completion dates, technical specifications and costs.
  • Provides high level technical leadership and guidance. Serve as a strong technical resource.
  • Actively participate in business and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Perform individual assignments as needed. Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the departments, the company and customers; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Interface with all other departments to ensure a cooperative effort.
  • Involved in ASME code review sessions and audits, led by the Quality Control Manager.
  • Manage and maintain various engineering professional practice programs.
  • Oversee the planning, design, development, and improvement of company's existing and review and develop new technology.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering and demonstrated understanding of engineering principles.
  • Registered with or eligible for APEGA registration with a minimum of 15 years’ experience.
  • Extensive experience with effective and efficient engineering/technical solutions; project management practices and personnel leadership and development.
  • Knowledge and experience in a steel related manufacturing environment.
