Electrical Engineer

Blommer Chocolate Company is one of the largest cocoa processors and ingredient chocolate suppliers in North America. The company provides comprehensive business solutions for domestic and international customers of all sizes in the confectionery, baking, and dairy industries. We are looking for a motivated and dependable Electrical Engineer to help in our mission of Bringing Chocolate to Life

1. Responsible for maintaining and implementing in collaborations with plant electricians’ PLC’s, HMIs, VF drives, process sensors, and instrumentation SCADA.
2. Assess, identify, schematically design, and make modifications in PLC logic, HMI programs, and servo controller logic to improve individual equipment & overall system’s performance.
3. Responsible for supervising electricians for maintaining the electrical power distribution systems in the plant, their upgrades, energy consumption reduction, load shedding, emergency power, UPS, battery charging, etc.
4. Prepare specifications for instrumentation, control systems for process equipment, write RFPs, create system architecture diagrams, create HMI visualization, perform factory acceptance tests. Handle control projects from concept through commissioning, including coordination and supervisor of contractors.
5. Troubleshoot and diagnose control systems.
6. Lead/support automation of processes. Plan, design, install, commission, interface with other systems, participate in equipment start-up for new or upgraded equipment and/or process controls.
7. Perform high-level troubleshooting, in-depth critical thinking, and utilize all internal and external resources to solve any network, automation, or process system problems.
8. Coordinate data integration as well as assist in the analysis of this data from diverse enterprise systems with plant floor data from SCADA systems. This requires interfacing with production and other ERP systems to the plant network as well as maintaining and improving the data from historian systems.
9. Upgrade automation and control systems for the plant to avoid obsolescence.
10. Provide technical and operating training to production personnel as needed. Assists in project planning and forecasting as part of the budgeting process. Provide training of control technicians with new control equipment or schedule outside training to enhance troubleshooting skills.
11. Effectively communicate with peers, supervisors, and upper management on a regular basis.
12. Other duties as required.
13. Must hold a valid passport and be able to travel to the United States.
