The position at a glance

The missions of the Operational Security Specialist are:

  • To contribute to the Network Security Operation, Governance and Architectural tasks assigned to the team (incl. but not limited to Network Security tool management, Flow approval, Flow review, Network flow diagram review, Network Design review…)
  • To support and maintain Network Security solutions (platform or tool) on a daily basis
  • Contribute to internal and external audit requests

In detail

In his/her area, the Operational Security Specialist is responsible for the following activities:

  • Analyze and approve requests for network flows between hosts, servers, Applications, or any other device connected to the network.
  • Troubleshoot and solve incidents/problems related to network flows.
  • Perform a regular review of the firewall rules implemented to ensure that they are always compliant to security policies.
  • Lead the deployment, testing and transition of network security solution(s)
  • Support and maintain the network security solution(s) on a daily basis
  • Implement product upgrades and service improvements, including technical and operational documentation.
  • Work closely with other IT teams on integrating network security capabilities in the IT solutions (tools, processes and services)
  • Create, maintain and ensure adherence with network security procedures, technical baselines, guidelines and controls.
  • Leverage multiple security focus areas to ensure that protective measures are appropriate, effective in combination, and interact properly with other system capabilities.
  • Participate in internal audits.

He/she also contributes to:

  • Identifying and assessing vulnerabilities in his/her area of responsibility
  • Facilitating the implementation of protective and mitigating controls.
  • Analyzing security alerts or investigating security incidents

Les atouts et compétences qui vous feront réussir

  • Strong experience in IT Production and/or experience in IT Security, IT Network (Network Security experience appreciated) – 10 years recommended
  • Strong technical knowledge of network technology: legacy firewalls (Fortinet/Checkpoint), Micro-segmentation, WAF (AVI/F5), IPS/IDS,…
  • Thorough understanding of technologies and security concepts
  • Detailed knowledge of network, operating system and database security
  • Experience in maintenance of tools and procedures.
  • Analytical skills

  • Rigor & Accuracy
  • Communication skills in French and English
  • Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. These will be clearly mentioned in the qualifications of the position.
