RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the Accounts Payable Clerk(s) and coordinates the work flow to ensure day-to-day A/P operations and activities are executed accurately and efficiently.
  • Provides direction and acts as a resource person for their staff.
  • Clears invoices from variance held reports as directed.
  • Communicates with vendors regarding discrepancies and resolves disputes as necessary.
  • Works with branches to resolve receiving discrepancies regarding the three way match.
  • Reviews the cash requirements list and makes any necessary corrections, prior to cheque runs.
  • Executes the producing of the electronic funds transfers and manual cheques, and provides them to the Controller for authorization.
  • Maintains expense and payable vendor master files.
  • Reviews branch and head-office cash sales reports and reconciliation. Resolves discrepancies and problems where applicable.
  • Orders and dispenses office supplies for head office and assists in managing office stationary supply (i.e. ordering and following-up with suppliers regarding supplies for office printers, fax, copiers, etc.)
  • Performs daily trip to bank to make deposit and any other minor tasks that are done at the bank.
  • Executes all other duties required by the position or by the immediate supervisor.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education (Diploma or Degree) in an Accounting program
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ supervisory experience in a similar role
  • Proficient computer skills (i.e. MS Word/Excel/Outlook, web-based applications, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal, in English)
  • Strong analytical/problem solving abilities
  • Ability to manage, lead and motivate staff
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail

*Wage commesurate with experience
