Due to continued growth in our businesses, we have a requirement for an AME Apprentice to join our Team at our Peterborough, Ontario location.

General Accountability

AME Apprentice is responsible for knowledge of piston, turbo prop, jet aircraft and the maintenance applications associated with them. This includes repairs, modifications, and inspections on aircraft structures, systems, and equipment.

Specific Accountabilities
  1. Visually inspect, assess, and assist in repairs and modifications to aircraft structures, systems, and equipment.
  2. Remove, install, and functionally test aircraft components.
  3. Dismantle and assemble aircraft systems for repair and overhaul.
  4. Remove aircraft control systems, check rigging, and re-assemble.
  5. Diagnostically troubleshoot aircraft defects and carry out corrective action.
  6. Complete records of work done to sustain an accurate record system.
  7. Ability to interpret blueprints and written technical instructions.
  8. Must perform work in accordance with all Transport Canada guidelines.
  9. Performs work in a productive, diligent, careful, and safe manner.
  10. Complete any special projects or other tasks as required or assigned.
  11. May be assigned to other areas of operations based on business or customer requirements.
  12. Works in compliance with all Administrative, Health & Safety policies and procedures as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies.
  13. Any other job-related duties assigned by department management.
Experience and Education Requirements

Completion of secondary school is required. Completion of College/CEGEP/vocational/technical training in Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) with Transport Canada accreditation is required.

Skills/Abilities

Good mobility, manual dexterity, and physical condition to work in areas within the aircraft where access may be limited. Ability to maintain professional work habits at all times. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet research. Good administration, organization, and planning skills. Able to work both independently and within a team environment, where tasks may be shared or reallocated daily. Must have the flexibility to adapt to changing demands and schedules, including the needs of the organization. Good attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to maintain effective relationships. Ability to understand and follow supervisor's direction. Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Working Hours

This is a full-time (FT) position where hours will change due to business operational needs and flexibility is required. At present, the standard hours of work are 6.30 am to 6.30 pm on a 4-day-on, 4-day-off rotation.

Working Conditions

Regular periods during which there is continuous physical effort required, e.g., walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward. Exposure to factors such as temperature variations, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, noise, and materials which cause periods of discomfort. Frequent need to give concentrated close attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing. Noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands. Work in confined spaces and elevated heights when required.
