Job Title: Project Designer - Construction

Location: Burlington, Ontario

Job Summary:

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Project Designer to join our construction clients dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, and implementation of construction projects, ensuring they meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. The Project Designer will work closely with architects, engineers, and construction professionals to bring innovative and sustainable design solutions to life.

Key Responsibilities:

- Create and develop design concepts for construction projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and 3D models using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).

- Collaborate with clients to understand their vision, needs, and budget, translating these into feasible design solutions.

- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, including scope of work, timelines, and cost estimates.

- Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and constraints, and to gather necessary measurements and information.

- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of design phases.

- Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure design integrity and project feasibility.

- Participate in project meetings, presenting design ideas and updates to clients and team members.

- Address and resolve design-related issues that arise during the construction process.

- Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

- Incorporate sustainable design principles and practices into all projects to enhance environmental performance and energy efficiency.

- Stay updated on the latest trends, materials, and technologies in the construction and design industry.

- Maintain detailed project documentation, including design drawings, revisions, and correspondence.

- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager and other relevant parties.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in design within the construction industry.

- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and building codes.

- Excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

- LEED accreditation or other sustainability certification is a plus.

- Ability to conduct site visits, including navigating uneven terrain and construction sites.

- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on design software.
