The Opportunity:

Our client, A well respected Engineering firm who provides food safety, process improvement, and business strategy services to the food and beverage industry are looking for an IT Specialist. This person will be responsible for providing customer-centric technical support to all employees to ensure optimal operational effectiveness. The role is located in Elora Ontario.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provide customer-centric technical support to all employees.
  • Reporting to the Director of Administration, the IT Specialist will support our employees, assist in the management of the network, and support office resources.
  • Work closely and in tandem with our co-managed IT service provider.
  • Manage and maintain active directories ensuring user and group administration, security policies, and access controls are in place and up to date.
  • Administer and maintain end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Oversee internal systems including servers, workstations, laptops, phones, and mobile devices.
  • Assist in managing and planning IT infrastructure and network security (servers, firewalls).
  • Perform routine setup, upgrades, and troubleshooting for network and systems issues, including servers, storage arrays, and phone systems.
  • Research and evaluate a variety of applications and system roadmaps for operational performance.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on servers, desktops, laptops, cell phones, printers, and other hardware.
  • Coordinate and prepare for new and departing users to ensure requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the onboarding process for new users, such as demonstrating network access, how to access the VPN, reviewing IT policies, etc.
  • Set up and collect workstations for new and departing users.
  • Research and recommend new technologies to enhance company productivity and performance.
  • Participate and prepare the annual IT budget as part of the overall business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, knowledge base articles, and training materials for IT best practices.
  • Provide after-hours technical support to employees and the IT service provider on an as-needed basis.
  • Keep and maintain an accurate record of all technical assets.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
  • Knowledge of and experience with multiple hardware and software products from vendors such as Microsoft, Dell, Lenovo, MSI, and Autodesk.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows operating system, MS Office Suite, and Office 365 is required.
  • Exceptional knowledge of printer, network, and phone services.
  • Effective at managing multiple projects and tasks of varying complexities, meeting deadlines, and working well under pressure.
  • Previous experience in a Service Desk role working in a high-pressure environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with network security management, internet firewalls, routing technologies, and intrusion prevention and intrusion detection systems are considered assets.
  • The ability to lift between 11-60 lbs. for the distribution of printer paper, moving workstations, and setting up computers and monitors.
  • Ability to bend and reach while setting up workstations.
