Senior Process Controls EngineerAir Products Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Products and Chemicals Inc., has manufacturing and distribution operations in Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta. Air Products core industrial gas business provides atmospheric and process gases serving a variety of customers in 50+ countries, including refining, chemical, gasification, metals, electronics, manufacturing, food and beverage, welding, and healthcare.

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Process Controls Engineer in the general Edmonton area. We offer flexible remote/onsite work accommodations. Travel is within driving distance predominately to our facilities in the Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan area.

Process Control Engineers work closely with our operating facilities as the authorities in DCS and PLC automation system design and support. They provide mentorship on instrumentation and control devices, to keep our plants operating safely and providing product to our customers. The individual will work closely with regional process controls engineers, plant process engineers, area managers, site supervisors and operating staff.

They will work on industrial process control systems in support of capital projects, standard processes, plant production initiatives and reliability improvement efforts.

Responsibilities:
  1. Support control system troubleshooting and upset investigations.
  2. Identifies, complete, and supports improvement projects related to the DCS & SIS systems.
  3. Responsible for the long-term planning and support of the control systems under their care with respect to programming, preventive maintenance, and migration.
  4. Implements changes to the control logic, HMI, database, documentation of these changes.
  5. Aligns with local I&E technicians, providing support and be involved with instrument related fixing.
Qualifications:

BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

3+ years of experience in process automation systems and/or instrumentation engineering.

OR

Associate degree or equivalent military training and a minimum of 10 years of controls systems experience.

Desired Skills:
  1. Valid Professional Engineer (PE) designation from APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta) preferred not required.
  2. Hands-on knowledge of control systems (DCS/PLC).
  3. General knowledge of field instrumentation, including valves and transmitters.
  4. Proficiency with concepts related to level, temperature, pressure, and flow measurement.
  5. Fundamental understanding of computer networks.
