We are seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Systems Administrator to join our team and manage our organization’s Unix/Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Unix/Linux administration, experience with system configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization. They will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our Unix/Linux infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux operating systems and related software.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Perform system backups and recovery procedures.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Implement security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades as needed.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate Unix/Linux systems with other infrastructure components.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in Unix/Linux administration.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and end-users.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a Unix/Linux Systems Administrator, preferably in a large-scale environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification), or equivalent.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Understanding of database administration (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Nagios, Splunk, ELK stack).
