Then the Labourer II – Water & Wastewater Operations, could be perfect for you The City of Lethbridge, Public Operations Department, Water & Wastewater Section, is accepting applications for non-permanent seasonal-term labourers for the 2024 Spring/Summer season.

WAGE: $20.50 per hour (2022 rate)
TERM: Starting May 1, 2024 (for approximately 5-6 months)*

*Please note: this position will require shift and weekend work. As a valued part of our amazing labour team you will get to be involved in a variety of duties.

Under the direction of a supervisor, you will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of labourer duties Your duties will include (but not limited to):

1. Strenuous manual labor such as shoveling, lifting, raking, climbing, prying or carrying heavy objects in water and wastewater situations.
2. Repeating physically demanding tasks such as turning water valves, operating and flushing hydrants or lifting manhole lids will be required.
3. Certain tasks may require using a ladder to get in and out of open excavations.

With such a variety of tasks you definitely won’t get bored
You should be prepared to work in the outdoors in an environment where you are exposed to extreme weather conditions, dust and possibly wastewater.

2. You have physical strength and dexterity to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time.

6. Rain or shine (or wind), you are able to work under varying weather conditions.
7. You are tactful, diplomatic and working with limited supervision is natural for you.
8. You are a results-oriented team member who demonstrates professionalism at all times.
9. You can successfully communicate with your team.

***Bonus Points – Prior related experience in a Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection setting will be an asset.

To be considered you MUST:

1. Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Have a valid, unrestricted Class 5 Operator’s license with no more than 5 demerit points (GDL Licenses will not be considered).
3. You must submit a 5-year commercial drivers’ abstract (no older than 30 days) with your application to be considered for this opportunity.
   If you do not submit an abstract, you will not be considered.
