The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is seeking a Director Facilities and Security to lead the Facilities and Security team. Reporting to the Vice-President, Organizational Effectiveness, this position will lead a team overseeing all aspects of building functions, including security, functionality, and efficiency. This position is responsible for developing frameworks, plans, and programs designed to effectively support business needs while ensuring a secure and well-functioning environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Accountabilities

  • Annually, develop and manage functional KPIs, work plan, and supporting resource and budget plan. Ensure adherence to budget and procurement practices.
  • Attract, retain, and develop a competent and capable Facilities function.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain relevant policies and procedures aligned with business goals and objectives for efficient facility operations.
  • Coordinate and manage delivery and performance of external service providers for building maintenance, facility-related capital projects, and security resources.
  • Develop and implement security protocols, access control, and emergency evacuation plans based on robust risk assessments to mitigate risks related to physical security.
  • Manage and monitor the appropriate inspection plan for all routine and non-routine maintenance of all building systems across SRC locations to address issues promptly and ensure business continuity and operability.
  • Develop and maintain space plans to ensure business needs are adequately met and balanced with cost implications.
  • Develop and deliver on project plans, budgets, and time-based deliverables through effective collaboration and communication with relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Facilities Management and/or Operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience.

Skills

  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders through effective communication, use of relevant data, and a collaborative and flexible approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational and people leadership skills to attract, retain, and develop exceptional talent.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with building codes, industrial real estate and space design, electrical systems, fire codes, HVAC systems, and relevant legislation to provide solutions to business problems with an unwavering commitment to safety.
  • Customer-focused approach with demonstrated project management skills for consistent on-time delivery.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical thinking skills to assess data and recommend preventative measures.

The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
