Senior Application Developer

Our client in the insurance industry is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to develop, operate, and maintain business metrics reporting applications and create business process automation web applications. This role requires a deep understanding of technical solutions driven by business metrics and a passion for innovation and process improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and operate business metrics reporting applications using SQL Server 2014, .NET 4.5.2, MS Access 2010, SSAS, and SSIS.
  • Create and support business process automation web applications using Visual Studio 2013, .Net, C#, ASPX, Microsoft Office Tools, and SQL Server.
  • Manage and maintain legacy applications developed with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.
  • Adhere to application architecture standards and contribute to developing reusable components and templates.
  • Understand stakeholder needs to tailor technical solutions driven by business metrics.
  • Innovate and implement ideas to improve current processes and enhance user experience.
  • Deliver exceptional service to business partners.
  • Ensure timely completion of scheduled reports and tasks according to SLAs.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across teams for effective communication and report execution.
  • Identify opportunities for report enhancement by Eliminating, Streamlining, Automating, and Consolidating (ESAC).
  • Develop and maintain application support documentation.
  • Provide backup support for team members.
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Regularly interact with business users and management.
  • Maintain great attention to detail and time-management skills.
  • Support and participate in all activities related to the complete life cycle of applications, including design, development, testing, debugging, operation, and client support.

What you will need to succeed:

  • 10+ years of mainframe programming and support experience (TSO, Cobol, JCL, CICS).
  • 5+ years of experience with the MS SQL Server platform.
  • 3+ years of experience with Python, VBA, C# programming, MS Access, and MS Excel.
  • 3+ years of experience with automation job scheduling (CAWLA).
  • Proven experience in application development and support in a DevOps environment.
  • Strong technical skills for writing macros (Excel, Word, Access) to automate small business processes.
  • Proficient in writing complex SQL queries and developing SQL Server Integration Services packages (SSIS).
  • Strong web development skills, including Visual Studio 2013, C#, ASPX, HTML5, AJAX, CSS3, JavaScript, and JQuery.
  • Experience or knowledge of reinsurance system applications is an asset.
  • Experience or knowledge of PowerBI is an added advantage.
  • Experience interacting with business users and management on a regular basis.
  • Excellent understanding of object-oriented programming, software design, and programming principles.
  • Familiarity with .Net Application Framework, Common Language Runtime, Managed Codes, and Distributed Architectures.
  • Excellent knowledge of data warehousing and multi-dimensional data mart concepts.
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines and changing priorities while juggling multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and maintain professionalism.
  • Proactive and takes ownership of assigned work.
  • Strong team player who enjoys a collaborative work environment.
