Job Summary:

Engineering Manager (permanent)

Teledyne FLIR is seeking a talented manager to lead the Engineering team, with potential and desire to eventually lead the whole Radars division in Laval, Quebec.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Planning of R&D activities, milestones and roadmaps, according to the Engineering projects budget and deliverables.
  • Provide leadership in the implementation and maintenance of project management processes, tools and metrics.
  • Assume leadership of engineering coordination meetings to assess and measure projects progress. 
  • Prepare monthly progress reports for projects, including advancement and spending vs plans and other engineering KPIs.
  • Coordinate with Customer Support, Production as well as customers the engineering support tasks required for product delivery and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Develop the yearly engineering department budget.
  • Prepare and review project estimates, schedules and forecast.
  • Support technical proposal activities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business case and requirements critical to the success of ongoing and new development projects. 
  • Provide leadership and direction to the engineering staff in accordance with Teledyne FLIR Engineering design, quality and compliance processes.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Business/Management or closely related disciplines
  • 10+ years engineering or project or business management experience, ideally involving complex hardware and software components.
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Robust interpersonal skills with evidence of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Experience in coordinating cross-disciplinary and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to drive deadlines in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
  • Proven commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Experience and/or formal training with modern project management tools and methods (e.g. PMP, MBA).
  • Business acumen to help align product development with market needs.
  • Eligible to be certified to examine, possess and transfer items under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and legally authorized to work in Canada.
