The Team
The Digital Services Web Team at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy is essential in making complex environmental protection information accessible to the public through the .gov.bc.ca website. You will collaborate with a UX Design Web Content Strategist, a Web Analyst, and subject matter experts across the division, as well as with the Digital Services Agile Development Team and the Digital Services Systems Team. Your work will help transform scientific and technical data into clear, engaging content, promoting crucial environmental topics to diverse audiences.
The Role
As the User Experience Design (UX) Lead for the Environmental Protection Division at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, you’ll play a key role in managing content strategy and advising on new web trends and ideas. Your work will directly inform the public about the ministry’s initiatives to protect and restore British Columbia’s environment. This is an exciting opportunity to engage with various projects that promote healthy ecosystems, support vibrant communities, and advance a circular, clean economy, allowing you to make a meaningful impact through your innovative web content strategies.
Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, User Experience Design, Computer Science, or a related field and 2 years’ related experience; OR
- Diploma in Library Science, User Experience Design, Computer Science, or a related field and 3 years’ related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related experience must include the following:
- Experience utilizing user experience design methods (design research, strategy development) to plan and build web priorities.
- Experience with information architecture, content development, basic web graphic development, and interaction design.
- Experience in leadership, communications, relationship building, research, and planning skills.
- Experience understanding current trends in online service delivery with a focus on improving services for users and partners of websites.
- Experience with plain language, accessibility standards, and writing/editing for the web.
- Preference may be given to applicants with five (5) or more years’ experience related to the design, development, and maintenance of websites.
About this Position:
Currently, there is one (1) permanent opportunity available. Remote work is allowed; this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement.
