The Opportunity

Are you a Senior Geologist seeking an exciting new opportunity? Are you a technically strong, self-starter looking to make a meaningful impact on acquisitions and plays? We are hiring a Senior Geologist to join us at our Calgary head office. If you are an excellent communicator and a strong non-authoritative leader, we want to hear from you.

You will proactively explore and evaluate opportunities in the Western Canadian sedimentary basin (WCSB). In your work you will partner with multi-disciplinary technical teams and be relied upon to engage with external experts frequently. You will lean on your entrepreneurial nature and strong business acumen and join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose.

What you will do

Explore and evaluate opportunities for organic or M&A growth in the WCSB and other international basins as required, in both conventional and unconventional plays

Draw on broad basin experience, competitive intelligence, external expertise, and awareness of play types to monitor and explain activity and performance in the play types we are evaluating

Collaboratively support the evaluation of plays by engaging multi-disciplinary technical expertise as needed, including petrophysics, geophysics, reservoir engineering, completions engineering, production engineering etc.

Through continuous learning, demonstrate proficient knowledge of logging, testing, completion, and production concepts allowing you to apply novel concepts to existing workflows

Participate in peer reviews both domestically and internationally, in conventional and unconventional plays

What you will bring

Minimum 15 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering and registered as a Professional Geologist with APEGA

Strong non-authoritative leadership skills with demonstrated experience mentoring junior and intermediate geologists

Demonstrated experience participating in peer reviews, with a deep understanding of prospect risking and volumetric evaluation

Excellent business acumen with exposure to and interest in portfolio management, capital allocation, and prospect advancement

Experience working with Geoscout, Kingdom, and Petrel

Demonstrated ability to comfortably interact and deliver technical material to executives

Previous publications or technical presentations at conferences would be considered an asset
