Join our team


We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our TELUS National Building Operations team to perform building maintenance services. These services are in a critical TELUS facility and related to building systems of all kinds and require strict adherence to Provincial and Federal standards and regulations. You will also participate in shift work rotation, on call rotation and need to be available for both scheduled and emergency after hours support.

Technical

  • You will maintain and repair critical Data Center and administrative building systems
  • Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing trades on coordinating and supporting maintenance tasks
  • Requires acquiring an understanding of all building systems, regardless of trade, for emergency response while on call

Communications

  • Respond to TELUS Network Operations Center callouts to diagnose and repair alarm situations
  • Contact suppliers to order parts/supplies or local tradesmen to hire their services
  • Discuss/explain details of troubles and find appropriate resolutions

Administration

  • Utilize a CMMS/work order to manage work and build repair and maintenance history
  • Utilize the Google product suite for email, document creation, cloud storage, etc.
  • Review, generate and organize maintenance reports
  • Work closely with a small team to schedule and coordinate work
  • Assist with preparing and submitting methods of procedure (MOPs) for work that poses a risk to critical systems
  • Track equipment deficiencies until they are resolved
  • Complete the ODS (zone depleting substance) course and assist with semi-annual refrigerant leak checks
  • Prepare expense reports
  • Clearly communicate risks and issues to management

Qualifications

You're the missing piece of the puzzle:

  • Red Seal ticket applicable to building maintenance (Electrician, Refrigeration Mechanic, Plumber, Millwright, Instrumentation and Controls Technician, etc.)
  • Ability to learn technical details from other trades
  • Experience with commercial or industrial HVAC equipment
  • Experience working on chilled water systems
  • Experience with using Building Automation Systems (BMS/DDC)
  • Knowledge of life safety systems (Fire alarm and Fire Sprinkler)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays, based on business needs
  • You will need to participate in rotating on call periods
  • You live in Kamloops or close enough to the city to respond to callouts in a timely manner
  • Able to use hand held power tools, test equipment and operate a personal computer
  • You are able to work on ladders and lifts
  • Normal colour vision to work with colour-coded wiring
  • Able to handle a physically demanding workload
  • Able and willing to work in various weather conditions
  • Positive oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ambitious, work well with minimal or no direct supervision
  • Able to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions or engage leadership as required
  • You will be working effectively in a close-knit team environment with strong collaboration amongst other departments
  • Able to maintain a high level of performance under the pressure of time constraints and a dynamic changing environment
  • Able to meet applicable testing requirements and have a dedication to continuous learning


Great to have's:

  • Valid RE Electrical certificates required by location would be useful

*Please note successful candidate will be required to acquire the Refrigeration Plant Operator certification from Technical Safety BC*
