Director of Operations

Commissionaires Hamilton is seeking qualified candidates to add to their senior management team as the Director of Operations. This dynamic role reports directly to the CEO and forms an integral component to the senior leadership of the organization.

Requirements
  1. Education: A degree in criminal justice, security management, business management, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory. Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of relevant managerial experience in the security industry to offset this educational requirement. Formal accreditation in security operations through ASIS or IFPO preferred, but not mandatory.
  2. Experience: At least 5 years of experience in security operations management, law enforcement, or military service in a leadership role is essential. Strong understanding of current security technologies and trends, and proficiency in using software applications are mandatory. Experience in the not-for-profit sector is preferred.
  3. Skill Set: Proven leadership skills, ethics, motivation, critical thinking, problem-solving, crisis management, communication, team building, sales, collaboration, and technical knowledge. Must have a valid “G” Level Ontario Driver’s License.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the Operations team in the day-to-day requirements of over 200 employees and over 70 unique client sites.
  • Negotiate contract revisions and renewals considering financial implications.
  • Create RFP responses, formal briefing documents, and professional presentations.
  • Act as an escalation point for client support and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing support to direct reports.
  • Work closely with the CEO to support the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Occasional travel for organizational needs and opportunities.
  • Frequent travel to existing and prospective client sites.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Report on operational progress through formal and informal reports, meetings, and briefings.
  • Perform any other duties as they may arise.
