Health & Safety Specialist

Tomlinson is currently seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team in Ottawa, ON. The role involves evaluating and monitoring health and safety hazards, developing risk control strategies, and ensuring compliance with government regulations. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Director, Health & Safety with Tomlinson Group's health and safety
- Conducting training for all employees and tracking training records
- Visiting all Tomlinson Group locations
- Investigating accidents and injuries
- Distributing health & safety information and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Providing advice to all company members
- Assisting with Ministry of Labour and WSIB issues
- Conducting surveys and attending project meetings
- Purchasing safety equipment and advancing health & safety knowledge
- Performing other duties as required
Applicants should have:
- University or college diploma in Health and Safety or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of related industry experience
- Good understanding of Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and WSIB Act
- Effective communication skills
- Teaching and presenting skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Valid G class driver’s license
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, lift loads, and other physical requirements
- WSIB JHSC representative certification, CRSP, and Internal CoR auditor are assets
