Commissioning specialist

We are looking for a Commissioning Specialist that will report to the Senior Manager of Network Build. You will primarily focus on overseeing National Fiber & Fixed Wireless Provisioning & Planning agendas & activities. This position will provide a primary interface for the various Construction Managers, Project Managers and Field Operations throughout the Network Build team. The role will be focused on the accepting, configuring and placing in service, both Fixed Wireless and Fiber systems. Requesting Licensing orders to have the design’s for Fixed Wireless approved.

• New Fiber/Fixed Wireless Build hand off acceptance, configuration and testing. Completing various checklists that support pre and post production Fixed Wireless and Fiber systems. This will include configuration of various network devices, testing with Field Operations and verification via Network, RF and Fiber Design teams. This includes updating of all relevant records, understanding the service, its dependencies and impact
• Train on Ericsson Licensing systems. Reviewing Field Plans and ordering licensing from our vendor for both new and existing Fixed Wireless Sites
• Primary point of escalation for the National Infrastructure Support Team for build activity. Ensuring that all projects remain well communicated between the groups. Allows for a single funnel that provides accurate and consistent messaging with cross functional teams
• Pilot new technologies being deployed within the XI network. Team works closely with Network/Tech development teams to pilot new hardware/software within the network and work with cross functional teams or vendors to resolve issues before mass network deployment
• Assist in creating and developing of operational reports and PowerPoint Slides
• Create new/update existing procedures for pre/post construction fiber/fixed wireless deployments. This will include communicating with all relevant groups (IP, Engineering, NOC, etc.) to build a library of commissioning policies and procedures for all XI platforms

• A relevant Diploma / Degree or a combination of practice work experience and education is an asset
• Experience in the operation of a LAN and WAN environment is an asset
• Microsoft Office Suite experience
• Contact Centre Experience
• The ability to effectively develop solutions and solve problems in fast paced environment.
• Must be able to pivot to various tasks quickly
• Ability to interact and effectively communicate at various levels within the organization
• Organizational skills (time management, email, etc.)
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment is essential
• Knowledge of Fixed Wireless and Fiber technologies an asset
• Background in the following technologies will be an asset: SNMP, HTTP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, AAA, DNS, DHCP, GPON
