Role: Financial Analyst
Location: Richmond Hill, ON
Reporting to the National Manager, Accounting & Internal Control, you will be responsible for the full accounting cycle related to prepayments, accounts receivable and treasury.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with USGAAP for accounts receivable, payroll, prepayments, lease accounting (ASC 842) and other accruals.
- Manage accounts receivable closing process and issue monthly statements to retailers.
- Monthly analysis of account discrepancies, investigate and advise on unusual discrepancies, follow up and escalate if necessary.
- Maintain adequate documentation and support to comply with internal and external audit requirements.
- Support treasury activities, including bank deposits and petty cash management.
- Prepare bank covenants and key financial ratios and ensure compliance.
- Prepare all sales tax and other compliance reports.
- Support internal/external audits by gathering evidence and guiding process controls.
- Support environmental compliance activities by collecting data related to the use of various programs in accordance with PMRA guidelines.
- Support ongoing accounting and business process improvement projects (Blackline/SAP Upgrade).
- Support new business initiatives underway.
- Demonstrate understanding of old/new processes and assist with transition (Plan, Do, Control, Act).
- Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of business decisions on the financial model and be able to maintain the model.
Required qualifications:
- Completed post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in finance/accounting (experience in the automotive sector is an asset).
- Experience/knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with superior skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and processes.
- Attention to detail, high accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to work independently and proven problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to work with a diverse team and influence/conduct change in functional areas and team environments.
- Self-motivation, ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
