Position:

Reporting to the President, the Senior Accountant will play a leading role in overseeing the successful execution of all Oben Build financial operations, including full cycle accounting, reporting, budgets, forecasting, client relationships, records maintenance, cost control measures, and developing a comprehensive set of controls to ensure accuracy of data integrity. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the finance team in the production of corporate reporting for Oben Build ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements and Oben processes.

This is a full-time permanent position starting in a hybrid model but will evolve into an in-house role.

Responsibilities:

· Lead delivery of all Oben Build accounting financials, including statements, reconciliations, tax forms, filings, and reports associated with month and year end deliverables

· Prepare project budgets, forecasts, and reports requested by management and cross-functional teams

· Provide accurate billing, tracking analysis and forecasting of project costs and present information to management

· Process A/R and A/P transactions, including collections, payments, invoices, reporting, and associated communication

· Act as SME providing technical guidance and direction as main point of contact for all project accounting inquiries

· Review cost reports to verify budgets, planned and actual costs, forecasting, contracts, and subcontracts ensuring accuracy and compliance

· Foster strong relationships with internal and external clients providing a professional representation of the Oben brands

· Define KPIs to measure financial project performance and monitor output in accordance with Oben Build objectives

· Prepare and file government remittances, including HST, EHT, and WSIB monthly, quarterly, and annually and prepare as CRA audit back up as required

· Monitor cashflow and develop projections to effectively manage balances and maximize return on any excess cash balances

· Process payroll entries for all Oben Build employees (non-union and union), using internal system and process on a weekly and biweekly basis

· Ensure adherence to appropriate accounting standards in preparation of financial reports

· Prepare and enter month end entries, including subcontract accruals and cost transfers

· Perform collection/payment of all receivables and payables ensuring status remains current

· Assist with the development of business cases and implementation of new process improvement initiatives

· Conduct meetings with management and cross-functional teams to deliver project accounting updates, statements, reporting, financial progress and total monthly variances according to project plan

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Administration, or Accounting

· CPA designation is considered an asset

· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within the construction industry

· Experience utilizing accounting software, including Yardi, QuickBooks, and payroll software

· Exceptional oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and external clients

· Excellent time and project management skills

· Considerable knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to best accounting practices

· Strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondence, contracts, requests, bids, and other documentation

· Exceptional forecasting ability with strong analytical interpretive skills

· Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners

· Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
