Job Description

  • Registered Nurses provide care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, surgery, or illness. Please note that this is for agency staffing support.
  • The role will include:
    • In collaboration with the patient/family/caregiver and other health care professionals, help formulate a plan of care based on patient assessment
    • Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plan(s) and adjust accordingly in consultation with the patient/family/caregiver and other health care professionals
    • Act as a patient advocate by protecting and promoting patient rights
    • Travel within your region between patients’ homes
    • Providing services in a variety of settings which may include in-home, clinic, retirement home or school
    • Performing other clinical duties as required
  • Experience in wound care, IV medications and re-sites, catheter care, compression/VAC and ostomy care considered an asset
  • Delegate as required within your scope of practice

Qualifications

  • Have one of the following qualifications:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BScN)
    • Bachelor of Nursing degree (BN)
    • Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience as a visiting nurse, visiting registered nurse, visiting registered practical nurse, and/or community nurse considered an asset
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach; ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently; ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting; ability to reposition clients in bed
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
  • Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
  • Clear criminal background check and Vulnerable sector check are required upon hire
  • Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful and courteous manner
  • Excellent problem solving, time management, and crisis resolution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable car
  • Ability to use phone applications
