Division Two Elementary Generalist with Music Background/Elementary Music Specialist – 0.7 FTE Probationary Position

August 19, 2024 to June 27, 2025

Calgary Girls Charter School (CGCS) is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Division Two Elementary Generalist Position with a Music background or an Elementary Music Specialist. This individual is interested in improving the learning and life outcomes for girls and young women. This part-time position will commence August 19, 2024.

The Calgary Girls Charter School, one of Alberta’s unique public charter schools, serves approximately 500 students in grades four to nine in SW Calgary. Our charter goals include high academic achievement as well as healthy social-emotional development of girls and young women. Our unique Go Girls curriculum infuses our culture and instructional program. Through the pedagogical lens of inquiry, the school supports learning to nurture confident, competent, caring young women who have a strong sense of self, appreciation for others, and respect for community.

  • has a rich background in general music instruction
  • possesses a pedagogical understanding of music learning

  • possesses a strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices
  • engages students through authentic, real-world challenges
  • transforms education through intentionally designed learning opportunities
  • is technologically literate, exploring and leveraging the possibilities that media affords
  • believes every child can experience success in a positive, supportive classroom
  • Choral background would be an asset

Compensation: The Calgary Girls Charter School offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Applicants must provide:

  • Evidence of a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Resume
  • Names of three references, two of whom must be current or recent supervisors of instructional practice
  • Current Police Record and Vulnerable Sector Check (if successful candidate)
