Energetic and ambitious, open minded, creative, team player, autonomous individual wishing to pursue a career in reinsurance. This position will be based in Toronto and involves travel to visit with clients in Canada and on occasion internationally. Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer, the Senior Treaty Underwriter will manage, with colleagues, all aspects of property and casualty treaty underwriting for Canadian insurers, and become responsible for a portfolio of business. The ideal candidate will be preferably Bilingual and have background in one or more of the following fields - underwriting, finance, economics, actuarial science, risk management.


Responsibilities:
Underwriting
  1. Evaluate renewal and new business treaty reinsurance programs as per SCOR guidelines.
  2. Structure and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions.
  3. Evaluate and negotiate contract wording.
  4. Evaluate and negotiate pricing in conjunction with actuaries.
  5. Refer all issues as required by SCOR guidelines.
  6. Perform underwriting audits at current and potential clients.
Client Management
  1. Responsibility for overall SCOR relationship with clients.
  2. Market SCOR to insurance companies and reinsurance brokers to obtain suitable business.
  3. Organize and manage client events.
Reporting and account management
  1. Inform SCOR Underwriting Management and SCOR Canada management as required of activities, client and portfolio results.
  2. Record all documentation for assigned business as per SCOR Guidelines.
  3. Ensure compliance and document all necessary referrals according to SCOR Guidelines.
Qualifications:
  1. A minimum of 10 years in the (re)insurance industry: primary underwriting; and/or reinsurance brokerage experience.
  2. Underwriting education or experience, financial, actuarial, economic, risk management.
  3. Proven leadership abilities.
  4. Ability to collaborate and deliver in a cross functional team environment.
  5. Excellent analytical skills.
  6. Solid negotiation and communication skills.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  8. Bilingual in French would be preferable.
