Position: Engineering Superintendent

The Engineering Superintendent is responsible for all capital project planning, budgeting, and execution for both Deer Lake Power and Paper Mill divisions within Corner Brook Pulp and Paper. They lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, manage engineering services requests, and oversee facility infrastructure management.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare annual capital plans and budgets for recommendation to Senior Management.
  2. Lead capital process management from request for appropriation to planning, execution, and cost control.
  3. Provide prompt response and priority setting of engineering services priorities as requested by mill personnel.
  4. Maintain infrastructure including structural, ventilation, and fire systems. Work closely with unionized personnel and contractors as required.
  5. Manage insurance requirements and fire suppression requirements.
  6. Champion the execution and documentation of the Management of Change (MOC) process as required.
  7. Support measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the Department.
Qualifications and Requirements:

The successful candidate must have:

  • A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably pulp and paper. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong project management background. PMP designation would be a strong asset.
  • Pragmatic and cost-efficient decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate team members.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient use of computers (Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Project, CMMS).

The successful candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends when required.
