Position Summary

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, this position is responsible for providing supervisory excellence to a shift of continental hourly associates in achieving Safety, Quality, and Production goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Monitor and control production assets with respect to equipment, employees, and raw materials to continuously improve efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  2. Review and recommend changes to machinery and equipment, production systems, and methods of work.
  3. Report any deficiencies in systems, facilities, machinery, equipment, and/or tools immediately to the Plant Manager/Production Superintendent.
  4. Record and/or report product damage/nonconformities to the Plant/Production Superintendent and Quality Supervisor.
  5. Comply with Quality Control policies and procedures.
  6. Participate and contribute to effective production efficiency.
  7. Communicate with administrative, plant, and supervisory staff as required.
  8. Supervise all assigned hourly employees on the shift to maximize safety, product quality, and quantity while maintaining efficiency and cost control.
  9. Apply policies, rules, and collective agreements fairly and consistently.
  10. Communicate with hourly employees as required.
  11. Provide and participate in training as required.
  12. Comply with divisional rules, regulations, and policies.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager/Production Superintendent.
  14. Participate in developing metrics to track progress and improvement efforts and work on achieving targets using said metrics.
  15. Encourage crew engagement/participation in ongoing plant improvement processes (JH&SC, monthly crew safety meetings, 6S projects, Continuous Improvement team and projects, etc.).
  16. Create/lead a positive example as it relates to the Westlake Code of Business Ethics and Workplace Harassment/Discrimination Policy.

Education and Certifications

  1. Three to five years of related supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Self-motivated individual with well-developed organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
  4. Proficient with MS Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
