Intermediate Structural Engineer (full-time permanent position)

Location: Hamilton, Ontario

GM Blue Plan is currently seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Infrastructure Renewal, Design and Construction Team. The role involves providing structural engineering solutions to municipal clients for various infrastructure projects.

This position includes:

  1. Completing structural condition assessments of buildings, valve chambers, bridges, and other structures.
  2. Reviewing detailed structural engineering design calculations and drawings.
  3. Preparing professional communications such as letters, technical memoranda, and reports.
  4. Contributing to business development through work plans, fee estimates, and proposals.
  5. Developing cost estimates, construction specifications, and structural engineering drawings.
  6. Supporting permitting processes, inspecting construction activities, and providing contract administration.
  7. Mentoring and supporting young staff in their career development.

Requirements:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • 7+ years of experience in structural engineering design and construction.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
  • Experience with inspections, rehabilitation projects, and construction contracts.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and finite element modeling software.
  • Motivation for career growth in a consulting environment.
