What you’ll be doing

You’ll join CIBC’s Risk Third Party Governance Office (TPGO) within Information Security, leading a team of third party risk consultants working together towards achieving the same goal – protecting Our Bank, Our Clients, and Our Employees.

As a Director, Third Party Risk, your goal is to ensure that CIBC’s third party risk methodology practices are executed to a high standard, and our business partners understand third party risks that we manage and monitor. You are responsible for developing, executing and maintaining sustainable processes, tools and services that support TPGO’s key risk assessment, measurement and monitoring functions. This includes overseeing third party due diligence activities managed by TPGO, including risk reports from start to finish, and monitoring and reporting of associated key risk metrics. 

To accomplish this, you need to be passionate about processes, people leadership, partnership, and adopting a continuous improvement mindset.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategy and Vision: assess the current state of our processes and tools, and maintain a roadmap for improvements that are executed upon

  • Process and Service Management: maintain and execute on an inventory of processes and services. Build appropriate controls and checkpoints to ensure work product is accurate, complete and adheres to CIBC process documentation and methodology.

  • Relationship Building: establish and maintain relationships with the Risk Advisory community, to understand their needs and drive the evolution of our processes and services. Provide education and promote awareness and understanding of our risk methodology practices.

  • People Leadership: build, coach and motivate the team to accomplish the delivery of our team capabilities.

  • Thought Leadership and Benchmarking: act as subject matter expert on industry methodologies and frameworks related to third party risk, perform industry research and benchmarking on best practices regarding risk assessment methodologies and governance.

Who you are

  • Third Party risk knowledge: you have a deep understanding (eg. >5 years of experience) of how key risk assessment processes (eg. Third party risk assessments, information security assessments, etc.) are executed and integrate with broader frameworks (eg. Technology delivery, Operational Risk Framework, Third Party Risk Management).

  • Tools: you understand risk register tools (eg. Coupa, Archer, eGRC) and provide thought leadership, business casing and project execution to better our tools and workflow. A security certification (eg. CISSP, CSIM, or equivalent) is an asset

  • You have demonstrated strong accountability in ensuring process documentation and associated work product artifacts are maintained and robust.

  • You can demonstrate experience in dealing with partners such as internal controls testing and audit, to demonstrate the function’s services are meeting partner expectations.

  • You have a continuous improvement mindset. You take a balanced “run” (operational) and “change” (evolution) approach to leading the team.

  • You are a bold and accountable leader. You have experience (eg. >3 years) developing and implementing strategic team goals, coaching employees and driving successful team performance.
