As a member of the Standards & Guidance team, within Sustainalytics’ Sustainable Fixed Income (SFI) business unit, the Analyst will contribute to the ongoing maintenance and development of the methodology and criteria that guide Sustainalytics’ provision of Second-Party Opinion (SPO) services.

A primary focus will be to research and analyze the sustainability characteristics of a wide range of economic activities and assets, including those in hard-to-abate industries, and identify technical criteria by which to assess their expected sustainability contribution. The role also includes providing on-demand technical support to SFI’s SPO team in response to project-related queries.

Job Responsibilities

  • Research the sustainability characteristics of a range of economic activities and assets, including those in hard-to-abate industries, in relation to relevant decarbonization trajectories and performance thresholds.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of Sustainalytics’ criteria and guidance for the assessment of such activities and assets as financed through green bonds and loans, helping to ensure that such guidance is robust, well documented, and maintained in a systematic and timely manner, responding to market and technical developments.
  • Provide on-demand support to SCS’s second-party opinions (SPO) team regarding project-related queries and contribute to ongoing training.
  • Develop expertise in sustainable debt financing, including current and emerging trends, issues, drivers, risks and opportunities, key players, best practices, the regulatory landscape, etc.
  • Liaise with and develop relationships with colleagues across global teams and offices.

Qualifications

  • Passion for sustainability and demonstrated interest in sustainable finance.
  • Degree in related discipline (Finance, Sustainability and/or Engineering).
  • Strong research skills and ability to analyze and interpret data/information.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Client-centric and commercial approach.
  • Alignment with Morningstar Sustainalytics’ mission, vision and values.
