About this opportunity

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're all driven by our purpose, to Help Britain Prosper. It's why we exist - it's our reason to get out of bed in the morning. The choices we make, our success and our future really matter.

But the world is changing, fast. And we're changing too. It's never been a more exciting time to join us as we transform our business to shape finance as a force for good.

The Cloud team is on the journey to create the next generation technical platform for Lloyds Banking Group that will be at the core of one of the UK's biggest financial service transformations. We're looking for a motivated individual to work within the Cloud Security Lab as an Engineer. The role will require you to be hands-on, to collaborate with peers to engineer new or enhance infrastructure level capabilities.

The role will involve:

  1. Understanding Bank Security policies and standards applicable to Cloud environments.
  2. Building knowledge and experience of operating in Cloud environments and Engineering teams.
  3. PoCs of new products/use-cases.
  4. Contributing to and helping create an inclusive and collaborative environment working with other platform teams to grow, develop and deliver the bank’s strategic outcome of becoming the largest UK Fintech.
  5. Working with a Lead Engineer to identify a domain area to focus on development and upskilling.
  6. Supporting SMEs with fulfilling core processes and tasks within a Product Team: fulfilling run tasks, delivering enhancements to existing capabilities/processes.
  7. Working with a mentor to develop and enhance onboarding and upskilling processes for new joiners to the team.
  8. Self-managing and proactive attitude and approach to tasks assigned.

What you’ll need:

  1. Working knowledge and hands-on experience of working on Cloud Environments.
  2. Working knowledge and hands-on experience of key DevOps concepts, tools and languages: Source Control (GitHub), IDE / Interactive Development Environments (IDE), Command Line Interface (CLI); Terraform, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub, CI/CD, IaC, PaaS.
  3. Passionate about technology - wanting to commit to building skills to advance a career in Cloud Engineering and Cyber Security.
  4. Readiness to take on challenges and willingness to learn - identifying areas requiring support to fulfil tasks, confidence to engage experienced team members to help with upskilling when needed.
  5. Growth/resilient mindset: ability to take on challenges and develop an approach to overcome knowledge gaps/areas requiring upskilling.
  6. Able to work with other engineers, understand tasks, manage stakeholders with progress updates/support needed as tasks are delivered.
  7. Awareness of the objectives of the Bank with its cloud vision, appreciation of the scope, pressures and demands of the role and dedication to put in the required effort to upskill to become a skilled and effective engineer in the team.
  8. Able to demonstrate completion of technical, hands-on tasks (writing code, interacting with APIs, deploying/managing infrastructure, Cloud/Security focused qualifications).

And any experience of these would be really useful:

  1. Previous experience of working in Financial Services organisations.
  2. Excellent Problem-Solving skills.
  3. Cloud and/or Security certifications.
  4. Worked within a Technical/Engineering team.
