GRASSLANDS PUBLIC SCHOOLS is hiring Aligning with our core values and mission, the mobile CTS teacher makes it possible to deliver inclusive access for all Grasslands students, to enrich their development and wellbeing, ensuring every student’s success. CTS teachers have a profound role in the development of our students and community. They spark interest and confidence while developing practical skills, that will follow these young adults far past their grade school years. This role requires a Bachelor of Education and a Journeyperson certificate and must hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate at the time of hire.

The mobile CTS trailer will be moved by our maintenance team, to locations across the division, to ensure the CTS teacher can deliver seamless instruction to our students.

About the program: The CTS program is designed to develop skills that senior high school students can apply in their daily lives when preparing for entry into the workplace or for further learning opportunities. Through the CTS program students are provided with opportunities to personalize their learning, identify and explore their interests, manage transitions between high school and the workplace or post-secondary, and develop the attitudes and behaviors that people need to participate and progress in today’s dynamic world of work.

Job Duties:

  • Identify students’ individual and collective learning needs.
  • Plan and deliver instruction based on student learning needs and special needs.
  • Provide a stimulating learning environment in which each student can experience growth and develop to his or her potential.
  • Help students learn appropriate knowledge and skills.
  • Meet with parents.
  • Evaluate and communicate student progress.
  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.
  • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress.
  • Volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and in-service training sessions.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor of Education & valid Alberta Teaching Certification.
  • Journeyperson certificate in an applicable trade.

  • Original document reported within the last 6 months of hire date; condition of employment.
