Due to continuing growth, we are seeking an Intermediate Environmental Engineering Project Manager with experience in contaminated sites and remediation to join our Contaminated Assessment and Remediation Team in our Calgary, AB office. Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  1. Developing and managing a portfolio of projects & clients
  2. Developing business with new clients
  3. Expanding business with existing clients
  4. Directing technical work (contaminated sites investigations, hazardous material surveys on projects, and supervising junior and intermediate staff)
  5. Issuing reports and liaising with clients
  6. Working in cooperation with a multi-disciplinary project team to complete projects incorporating contaminated sites investigation and remediation, solid waste management, building decommissioning, and waste discharge permitting
  7. Compiling, analyzing, and evaluating data using the application of engineering principles and problem-solving skills under the supervision of a project manager
  8. Preparing technical documents, including draft work plans, reports, and correspondence
  9. Developing technical designs, including design reports, specifications, drawings, and tender documents
  10. Preparing project support documents, including health and safety plans
  11. Communicating with vendors and contractors
  12. Administering contracts and controlling costs
  13. Managing and overseeing field work, including environmental monitoring, drilling oversight, and remediation contractor oversight
  14. Researching, reviewing, and understanding provincial and federal acts and regulations
  15. Leading design and project management meetings
  16. Preparing and issuing proposals
  17. Other duties as assigned/required
What you will bring to this role:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering

Designation with APEGA or eligible for designation

5-10 years of consulting experience in the environmental field in AB

Excellent project management skills

Focused on growing the practice and expanding clientele under the direction of the Team Lead and Business Group Leader

Proficient with the provincial and federal (CCME) guidelines for contaminated sites assessments

Experience with submissions for provincial regulatory instruments such as a Certificate of Compliance, Approval in Principle, or a Determination

Experience with investigation of federal sites (CCME guidelines)

Experience with supervision of junior and intermediate staff

A motivated, self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

Detail-oriented and organized

Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as technical writing abilities
