Global Wealth Management Technology group in Scotiabank is primarily responsible for the design and development of digital applications for wealth and brokerage customers.

We are looking for a Delivery Lead who will be working with the team for Wealth management/brokerage digital modernization. The Delivery Lead works with one or multiple teams who are delivering business value to customers. As a Delivery Lead, you are passionate about Agile methodologies, communication, continuous improvement and coaching to deliver the digital production for customers.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  1. Work with a team to identify roadmap/feature dependencies and impediments. Being accountable for tracking the dependencies and impediments and removing them to enable the team: surface, track, escalate.
  2. Guide and coach the team to follow agile practices.
  3. Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution. Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved.
  4. Assist in the identification and mitigation of project risks.
  5. Identify and act on coaching opportunities at the individual and team level.
  6. Conduct regular assessments of a team’s Agile Maturity and use the results to guide them to improved performance.
  7. Facilitate agile ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer-term planning exercises (Release Planning, Release Train Planning).
  8. Support the Product Owner, especially with respect to story grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  9. Proactively identify and mitigate risks using Agile best practices and project deliverables.
  10. Forecast the numbers of deliverables, based on evidence and reliable sources.
  11. Be an expert in estimating and planning. Know how to create useful, reliable and practical plans for software development projects.
  12. Provide regular, standardized reporting for team performance: velocity, stories completed and project status.
  13. Work closely with Finance to ensure the alignment of budgets, spend and forecasts. Support budget tracking and variance mitigation efforts for the delivery team.
  14. Coordinate operation readiness activities with associated teams (security, infrastructure, network, etc).
  15. Oversee and coordinate software release activities.
  16. Actively participate and assist in timely decision making in defining the product backlog (working with Product Owner, Business Analyst); alignment to overall product architecture and technical design (working with Architect and Tech Leads).
  17. Regularly communicate with other scrum teams to ensure tactical story alignment and identify/track dependencies between the teams.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  1. Knowledge of Lean, eliminating waste, focusing on value delivery, small batch production, frequent delivery of working software, adapting to change.
  2. Understanding of backlog tracking, Scrum and Kanban based metrics, task definition, story splitting.
  3. Knowledge and experience with Agile techniques – Automated Testing, User Stories, TDD, Continuous Integration, Testing, etc.
  4. Good working knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand the team needs.
  5. Familiarity with common development practices, service-oriented environments and agile practices.
  6. Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Working experience in JIRA/Confluence.
  8. Experience with System Design and the ability to work independently of an Architect on creating pragmatic solutions to technical problems, working with the scrum team.
  9. Working experience in a Digital solutions team in the Finance industry is an asset.
  10. Hands-on experience leading release management activities for successful delivery of product launches.
  11. Strong understanding of Wealth / Brokerage business is an asset.
  12. Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  13. 5 years of Scrum Master experience and/or leading large cross-functional/cross-regional teams on major organizational projects.
